Welcome to Grand Island Riverdogs Baseball
Grand Island Riverdogs Baseball is a select baseball organization. Our program is for players ranging in age from 6 to 14. Teams are formed with players looking for a competitive baseball team with the goal of learning and improving their skills. We help prepare them with a foundation so that they may go on to play in high school and college. Our players are from the Grand Island area.
The Riverdogs program is funded by our players' fees, sponsorships, and fundraising events.
The season begins with practices in January with games played through mid-July.
Why Riverdogs Baseball
To Develop Baseball Skills
Your child will learn the fundamental skills including hitting, fielding, throwing, baserunning, and field positions. A player who can master these fundamental skills is a valuable member of the team.
To Learn Team Work
They will spend a lot of time socializing and getting to know each other. Friendships and bonds will form as they practice and play together. They will learn to respect each other and work together to find their strengths and overcome weaknesses to become a better team.
To Be A Better Person
There is more to baseball than most think. Physical fitness for example. Building strength, improving cardiovascular, hand-eye coordination, and their outside! A healthy player is a happy player.
A healthy player is a happy player. Baseball is good for their mental health as it keeps them focused, requires quick decision-making, and gives them a math lesson without them knowing it. It can also help with depression and more. After all, baseball is more of a mental game than a physical one.
Riverdogs Baseball Is Fun
Baseball is great fun for all. It doesn’t matter if you are a player on the field or a fan in the stands, it’s exciting to be at the ballpark. You never know when the game goes from calm to on fire. It’s like a rollercoaster and the second you take your eyes off the field is when you’ll miss all the action. While we are coaching your kids to success we also know that they need to have fun doing it to keep them engaged and growing.
Anyone Can Play
Unlike other sports where a team can be held up by a single gifted player. Baseball is more of a level playing field. Baseball does not have the physical demands of other sports. As long as you can do the fundamental skills of Baseball you can play. Children can also start playing at an early age and do not have to wait for their bodies to develop before being able to play.
